Legislations in force
The (EU) has developed rules and regulations
to guarantee fish and fisheries products we eat are safe. The
Commission has overall responsibility for ensuring that standards
are applied equally across the Union. The EU is also ensuring that
third countries exporting fisheries products to the European
market have public health legislation and controls for the
fisheries sector which are equivalent to those existing in EU
legislation. Some of the regulations have been replaced beginning
1 January 2006. More information on EU legislations.
